Elyse started her counseling career in 2014 after graduating with her MS in Clinical Counseling and Health Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has extensive experience with eating disorders working in higher level of care and serving as clinical director of a local eating disorder treatment facility before transitioning to private practice. Elyse also specializes in anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, self-esteem, and people-pleasing either co-occurring with an eating disorder or as stand-alone issues.
Elyse is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Somatic Experiencing (SE). She selects various interventions from these models to create an individualized treatment plan for each of her clients.
Elyse emphasizes the importance of bottom-up processing (working with the body) and weaves yoga and other psychosomatic techniques into treatment to help clients befriend and feel safe in their bodies. She taught yoga for 10+ years and has received extensive training in yoga for body image and trauma-sensitive yoga. Elyse has both seen and experienced the healing power of embodiment and offers this gift to anyone interested in a more somatic approach.
Elyse uses her intuitive sense to navigate the client-therapist relationship so that clients feel safe and supported. Elyse acknowledges the courage it takes for clients to show up and talk about their fears, pain, and struggles. She is passionate about helping clients realize how strong and resilient they really are, and holds hope that growth/recovery is possible.
